K&N Air Filter Savings Disclaimer

K&N’s Performance Cotton Air Filter cost savings is an average based on the cost comparison in USD of purchases made in the United States, as of 9/6/22 of the MSRP of the corresponding OE and K&N air filters, replacement of the OE air filters at the vehicle manufacturers’ (OEMs’) or USA distributors’ recommended service intervals for vehicles sold in the USA and driven at least 200,000 highway miles, cleaning of the K&N air filters at the recommended service interval, the MSRP of the K&N Recharger Kit to clean and re-oil your K&N air filter, and the cost of protective gloves and goggles for cleaning a K&N air filter. It does not include or take into consideration sales taxes, shipping or other charges, nor does it take into account recurring costs for sales taxes and shipping charges that may be incurred with each subsequent purchase of an OE replacement air filter(s), or possible increases in an OE filter’s price, due to inflation or other causes, each time an OE air filter is purchased, all of which could potentially result in greater cost savings with a single purchase of a K&N washable, reusable air filter. Actual savings will vary due to the vehicle driven, driving conditions, and driving styles.

The part numbers used for this comparison were derived from those air filters comprising 80% of K&N’s annual sales of replacement air filters for 2021, cross-referencing those air filters to the corresponding OE air filters and then determining the vehicle applications for those air filters and selecting what K&N determined to be the most popular models using those part numbers. Service intervals for replacing air filters were obtained from information provided by the OEMs or their USA distributors in owners’ manuals or maintenance schedules published on their respective websites, as of the date of determination of the MSRP. The MSRPs of the OE filters were obtained from the OEMs’ or their USA distributors’ respective websites. In determining the number of replacement OE air filters that might be used over the course of 200,000 miles of driving, it was assumed the existing air filter on a vehicle was new and, therefore, only the number of filters replaced at recommended service intervals after the first or initial air filter replacement were counted in determining the cost of replacement filters over the remainder of the 200,000 miles of driving. The MSRP was multiplied by the number of OE filters that would be purchased at the recommended replacement intervals to create a total cost for the OE part number, from which the total cost of the corresponding K&N filter, cleaning kit, gloves, and goggles was subtracted to reach a cost savings for the K&N air filter in comparison to the corresponding OE air filter. The cost savings for these individual air filter comparisons were then totaled and divided by the total number of comparisons to determine an average cost savings. Actual savings will vary due to the vehicle driven, driving conditions, and driving styles.
